Our Power Backup Systems: Generators and UPS
Located outside the data centre facility, we have three independent SDMO Kohler generator sets. Each of these generators can deliver 446 kVa of power in the event of a power outage, a common occurrence in emerging economies like Ghana. These generators, colour-coded for easy identification, can restore power to the facility within 12 seconds of a grid and solar power disconnect. During this brief period, our UPS systems sustain power until the transfer to an alternative power source is complete.
Our power system also includes two sets of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units, which provide emergency power when the primary power source fails. The 300kVA Eaton UPS supports IT load for up to 25 minutes, while the 150kVA Eaton cooling UPS can provide 12 minutes of power, with the facility operating at full capacity. Once grid or solar power is restored, the UPS units are recharged.
